More couples are now dual income than in the past, houses are becoming larger (and being built with higher quality materials), labour is more expensive, land is a scarce resource.
The housing crisis is hitting many countries, usually those which have performed economically well over the last decade or two.
You know this happened literally in every developed country right?

Imagine literally believing that immigrants from South America are buying 350k++ houses and not giant corporations like Blackrock and that that poor people are responsible for this not rich executives.
The culture wars working exactly as intended.

In 2024, foreign-born persons (i.e. people not U.S. citizens at birth) made up 19.2 % of the U.S. civilian labor force. (I emphasize labor.. as in the people who actually work, and generate wealth for the Nation)
