Während des Zweiten Weltkriegs rekrutierte Nazi-Deutschland mehrere muslimische Divisionen für die Waffen-SS, hauptsächlich aus Bosnien und anderen Teilen des Balkans. Es gibt echte Fotos dieser Soldaten, die auf dem Schlachtfeld islamische Gebete verrichten – etwas, das heute angesichts unseres Wissens über die Nazi-Ideologie surreal erscheint.
Es ist eine dieser Geschichten, die einem bewusst macht, wie komplex und widersprüchlich Geschichte sein kann. Fast niemand spricht darüber, aber es ist absolut faszinierend (und unangenehm), etwas darüber zu erfahren.
