Are you fucking kidding me!? Slash jobs, slash benefits, hurt Canadians (especially poorer ones). And more corporate handouts. But I guess that tracks from a banker. The BoC was, after all, critical of businesses increasing wages too much. The money must only go to the rich you see.
Austerity for the people, handouts to business.

Corporations are already making record profits. Income inequality is at record highs in Canada and he wants to give the rich even more?
Don’t tell me we have another trickle down Reagan wanna be here?

WTF?! Corps are making money hand over fist! And he wants to cut that revenue source at a time when Canada is trying to figure out a tough budget?

This is not surprising to me. Quite a bit of his messaging has been around attracting corporate investment to Canada. Cutting taxes is in part helpful to that.
The big question mark is how he’s gonna pay for all these stupendous nation-building projects if he’s cutting taxes for both us common folk and corporations. I doubt I’ll like the answer.

How about we do the opposite and raise corporate taxes… that’ll help speed up the exit of all these US giants like Stellantis… who needs their jobs and taxes anyways! (Yes, sarcasm)
It isn’t just a trade war, it’s a battle to attract investment… as long as the orange man is down south we need to stay competitive. It is what it is.

Having tax cuts for the wealthy or corporations on a budget reporting one of the largest deficits in history is Liz Truss levels of insane.
Asset holders have made enough money, if we’re lowering taxes on anything it should only be on labor.

Why are people surprised that a central banker is considering pro capitalist policies?
A lower corporate tax rate improves our competitiveness with the US. It’s one way to move the lever on our economy

God damn it fucking sucks that Carney got chosen as Liberal leader. I know if he hadn’t then PP would’ve probably won, but we would’ve gotten pretty much the exact same policies anyways and at least that way we would’ve had a chance at a different Liberal leader for next election instead of our options being PP and a more competent PP for two consecutive elections. We are definitely living in the worst timeline right now

It’s worth noting that lower corporate tax rates have always been a feature of Nordic social democracy. The Canadian left tends to mix social democracy with left-wing populism, and the idea that you can pay for everything by taxing corporations into oblivion comes from the latter.
