Der Geruch war wirklich widerlich, aber der starke salzige Fischgeschmack harmonierte gut mit der Milde von Brot, Sauerrahm, Kartoffeln und Dillgurken. (Andere Leute haben es auch mit Zwiebeln und Tomaten gegessen.)

Yeah, they’re not too bad tasting. But the smell is pretty horrible. It’s why you should be careful with how you open it. The smell really lingers if it gets into stuff.
Why pickles? Where’s the tomato, onion and creme fraiche?
As it should be, when you eat it as intended.

Pretty crazy that as a 46 year old Swede I have never seen someone eat this or even smelt it. Only see it in tourist videos on Youtube.
