tldr; Ant Group, the Chinese fintech giant behind Alipay, has launched Jovay, a new Layer-2 blockchain built on Ethereum, to integrate real-world assets (RWAs) into decentralized finance at an institutional scale. Jovay aims to provide a compliance-first, scalable solution without a native token, targeting enterprise adoption. With Alipay’s 1.4 billion users, Jovay could significantly expand Ethereum’s role in global finance. The platform achieved up to 22,000 TPS in trials and aims for 100,000 TPS, signaling a shift toward public blockchain infrastructure for institutional finance.
