„And so, he had to go through a lot of tough times that season to really finally have that final push into maturity. So it was all like justified to the character. **Like, did it get a little too gnarly at times? Probably, yeah,** but I think…we always start with what’s necessary for the character, and I think he needed to go through a lot of that to become his fully realized self, which is really the heart and soul of the voice.“

They’re clearly never going to apologize at this point so I don’t know how this even qualifies as news. he’s just repeating himself

Where people have drawn the line on „The Boys“ content is funny. „tHatS not oK!“

I love The Boys/Gen V, but this is a trash take.
It was very unnecessary, and honestly fucking weird. His dad died, he got raped, and then Starlight still trashed him. What did the character get out of it?

Yep, shit happens to Hughie, that’s his lot. He’s the whipping boy of the book. Hell, it’s Black Noir doing the assaulting in the comic.

As someone who doesn’t watch the show or read the comics this was pretty wild

Just end it well and make Homelanders plot armor worth the milking of his plotlines.

We’re really at a point in society where people care more about this fictional character in a fictional scenario than they do about the very real and very pressing real world issues

What show had those viewers been watching for 3 seasons cuz…

You really expect a showrunner with the exact same sentiments to superheroes as the comic creator to care and sound normal about this? This guy thinks all American superheroes are White Supremacist propaganda and it’s a „well what he meant to say“ moment.
Believe people who show you who they are.

Who cares, its not real. Hughies supposed to get shit on until he grows some damn balls. Thats his whole character.

The Boys is my guilty pleasure show, but it’s not very well written or thoughtful in what it says. Just replacing modern day buzzwords with “supe” isn’t really political commentary.

It’s not about what happened, to me it’s about how they thought it was supposed to be a funny scene. I seriously doubt they would’ve thought it was funny if it was starlight that it happened to. It would’ve been like laughing about the starlight-deep scene in season 1

Yeah it’s fucked up, weird, unfair, disgusting, etc. This is what the boys is lol
Read the comic, I mean even the intro in the first episode. I’m not saying it’s right I’m just saying watching all of that and then trying to make sense of it is kinda out of touch which one of the main messages which is that atrocity doesn’t have a point, suffering doesn’t need a reason, and digging deep to make sense of it will bring more pain and confusion, so will avoidance tho, there isn’t an answer and that is life 🤷

You guys do realize that the whole point of the show is to dismantle the celebrity cult, right? One of the protagonists becoming so completely humiliated is entirely on topic.

I hope Homelander kills all of them. But of course we all know how it’s going to go.
