It was very unnecessary, and honestly fucking weird. His dad died, he got raped, and then Starlight still trashed him. What did the character get out of it?

As someone who doesn’t watch the show or read the comics this was pretty wild

Apparently nobody read the comics.. it’s way more darker than the show.. it’s not for everyone..
We’re really at a point in society where people care more about this fictional character in a fictional scenario than they do about the very real and very pressing real world issues

You really expect a showrunner with the exact same sentiments to superheroes as the comic creator to care and sound normal about this? This guy thinks all American superheroes are White Supremacist propaganda and it’s a „well what he meant to say“ moment.

The Boys is my guilty pleasure show, but it’s not very well written or thoughtful in what it says. Just replacing modern day buzzwords with “supe” isn’t really political commentary.
It’s not about what happened, to me it’s about how they thought it was supposed to be a funny scene. I seriously doubt they would’ve thought it was funny if it was starlight that it happened to. It would’ve been like laughing about the starlight-deep scene in season 1

Read the comic, I mean even the intro in the first episode. I’m not saying it’s right I’m just saying watching all of that and then trying to make sense of it is kinda out of touch which one of the main messages which is that atrocity doesn’t have a point, suffering doesn’t need a reason, and digging deep to make sense of it will bring more pain and confusion, so will avoidance tho, there isn’t an answer and that is life 🤷
You guys do realize that the whole point of the show is to dismantle the celebrity cult, right? One of the protagonists becoming so completely humiliated is entirely on topic.
