      >Venezuela plays a relatively minor role in the region’s drug trade. The president would not be drawn on whether the CIA’s goal was to topple Maduro, for whom the US has offered a $50m (£37m) bounty.

This article did not even fatct check Trump: Venezuela has not „opened its prisons“ – the only time I remember in history of a country emptying its prisons happened during the Cuban Mariel boat lift in the 1980s

    5. Does anybody remember when the US Govt actually didn’t announce it’s covert operations to the public?

The „no wars“ president sure seems hellbent on getting us into a war. Remember how the topic of getting into a conflict with Venezuela was a really important issue during the 2024 election, so makes sense this would be happening so early in Trump’s first term. What’s that? This didn’t come up at all? Hmmm….

I thought CIA action was supposed to be secret. Is that not like the whole point?

Trump confirms a lot of things. Doesn’t make it true, and doesn’t make him competent.

He’s not going to attack Venezuela because the guy in charge their is a dictator, he’s not going to attack Venezuela to protect America from „Narcoterrorists“ and he’s not going to attack Venezuela because of oil

The reason he’s going to attack Venezuela is because he needs to. All authoritarian regimes throughout history need their enemy, something they can use to justify the authoritarian regimes existence as being necessary to defeat it. The Iranians have Israel, North Korea has South Korea, Russia has NATO, China has Taiwan

Trump is making Venezuela the enemy because Venezuela is a country close to the US and even closer to a US military facility in a secure territory meaning he can run a relatively cheap and low risk war against them something he couldn’t do if he went to start a fight in Asia or the Middle East

Trump will attack Venezuela and use the war to invoke all the war time powers he’s desperately wanted. US forces will drop the occasional bomb on Venezuela making sure to film it for propaganda purposes to keep reminding people there’s a war on and meanwhile Americans who oppose Trump will be rounded up as traitors, collaborators and enemy agents

The war will never end, it can’t as the war is necessary to the survival of the regime and Trump can keep the war going for the reason I pointed out above, it will cost the US very little to do and the risk to US forces will be significantly less than patrolling the likes of Afghanistan

This is Trumps goal and always has been since coming to office again. He’s not interested in expanding the US, getting resources or while he’s making a tidy personal wealth profit he doesn’t care for it really. What he wants is to create a system in which a Trump dynasty will be in power forever because there can never be an election as „The US is at war“ and there can be no political parties but those Trump approves of as „All political opponents are traitors“

Trump is Kompromat incarnate. I’m surprised he didn’t just give a list of names of agents and locations.

Maybe I’ve watched too many spy movies but I don’t think we usually announce to the world when our opera5ives are operating.
