As of China cares about the Canadian EV market ..
This whole issue has become a wet dream for foreign interference.
Ironically, it’s both wings that are slurping up this pudding right now .
China has always been hostile to Canada. It’s just that the Liberals have also been their party of choice so we hear less about it when they’re in power.
Canadian spy detained by China for spying in China doesn’t like China. If Spavor didn’t get a huge settlement from the Feds for Kovrigs spying getting him detained as well I’d have a little sympathy, but cmon
Canada needs to be smart. Which doesn’t mean blocking China, but rather engage with them, speak their language (I don’t mean Mandarin) and sign good deals. Much like the US you need to be careful though, or frankly any country for that matter.
I’m not surprised that a Canadian spy who was caught in China would be negative to China.
Yes, China is hostile, but we know that already. Between China and a mercurial Trump Administration, I think the former falls more into the devil we know category. I have more confidence in China honouring a deal, than Trump.
