Many of the scientists envisage a “semi-dystopian” future, with famines, conflicts and mass migration, driven by heatwaves, wildfires, floods and storms of an intensity and frequency far beyond those that have already struck.

At this stage I’m wondering less whether it’s going to happen and more whether it’s going to happen late enough that I won’t be here for the really nasty stuff.

Big oil is like: this is fine. In all seriousness, the oil companies should pay for the mitigation. They have known since the 1970’s that this will happen and yet did nothing but obfuscate and spend millions on lobbying. Now the chickens have come home to roost.
