I can see this being an ongoing problem as the RCAF’s „heavy“ pilots convert to the A330. They’re getting one of the most valuable type ratings out there. They can make hundreds of thousands of dollars a year as contract pilots in the Middle East and Asia with that training and some time on type.

Bizarre. Surely one could have been made available?

Seems incredibly problematic the government can charter a private plane faster than their own.

    3. Our institutions of power reflect what our beliefs as a country and as a people are.

Right now, our institutions show that Canada is a wealthy country that hates being wealthy.

The Prime Minister doesn’t have access to reliable transportation, and has a home that is collapsing.

These symbols are a dire reflection of what we believe in, it’s embarrassing.

      That needs to change.

If Canada dresses its leaders like a poor country, it’s going to be treated like a poor country.

    4. I don’t know man it’s probably on average cheaper to have to charter once in a while than it would be to have dedicated crews always on standby.

If it weee super duper necessary, they could force the availability of crews.

People need to calm their tits a little bit. First of all the RCAF is in the middle of the phasing out the CC-150 Polaris ( a military version of the Airbus A310) and procuring brand new and converted CC-330 Huskys ( an Airbus A330 MRTT bascially an Airbus A330 that can be outfitted to carry cargo or troops or be a VIP executive jet and can be outfitted to refuel other aircraft). Be thankful that we phased the CC-150 Polaris out after it left former PM Justin Trudeau stranded a couple of times. The CC-144 Challenger on the other hand needs to phased out as soon as possible as it is so old and decrepit it needs an exemption to fly into countries like the US. This also means pilots that flew the Airbus CC-150 Polaris are in the middle of retraining and recertificating to fly the new Airbus CC-330. But this does not excuse the RCAF from failing to provide a crew and the VIP configured CC-330 to fly the PM to important meetings and summits.
