I’m really interested to see where everybody comes down on this one. There’s a lot of great potential conversations to be about how society polices itself, the role of social opprobrium, how changes in society and what’s acceptable (to varying degrees of acceptable) have (or have not) impacted peoples behaviour and willingness to colour outside the lines… the larger stuff besides this specific incident.

Aside from the absolute disgust we should all feel for an elected official endorsing vigilante violence, this is dripping with „I totally would have kicked his ass if I didn’t have my hands registered as lethal weapons“ energy.

Next he’s going to tell us about his girlfriend.

We wouldn’t know her, though, she goes to a different school.

    3. Obviously this is beyond messed up and not something at all I want my premier to be doing, but I do find the image of a shoplifter stealing something and then being confronted *by the premier of ontario* to be a pretty funny image. Same vibe (but worse) as Doug using his little shovel to pointlessly try to dig a car out of a snowbank.

Again, Doug should feel incredibly ashamed here, and certainly not be bragging.

      But it’s a funny visual.

Oh neat, I was there for this speech! I really have to question whether this was even real. It very much came off as a made up crowd-pleaser to me. Everyone was clapping after, and I was left feeling like these people must believe all those fan-cam skits at sporting events are real, too.

I wish he would threaten to make Ontario a better place and actually do his job rather than just put out videos of him eating donuts and telling silly anecdotes about nothing.

Damn he’s embarrassing. And I’m Even more embarrassed for myself. Because I voted for him.

He’s pretty much the Canadian Pete Hegseth.

Ford is on a tear, he’s too good of a politician right now. MVP-like performance in that period shortly before and after Trump’s April tariffs. Wades into issues where it’s really more for the locals to decide but he understands it gets his name in headlines which is really important, he usually comes out with a net gain to his brand. Does the every-man persona at an elite level but also can do the strong-man persona. Since that debacle with health workers or since using section 33, it’s been only UP with how most voters in Ontario view him. He knows what most voters in Ontario want to hear and not want to hear. I just have to respect his and his team’s skill.
