For context – These are being referred to as the Gen Z protests, as a group called „Gen Z Mada“ appear to be the spark.
Their grievances include a cost-of-living crisis, government corruption & high unemployment. Over 2/3 of the Madagascan population don’t have electricity & 75% live below the global poverty line.
This isn’t a pure military coup, only a small portion of the military has joined. Tbh, it seems like a fair protest with reasonable grievances to me.
