Investments come with risk. There was no guarantee you could mortgage through the roof, constantly expand, and some magic would keep a steady supply of customers.
Sit down, take your losses and get out of it. Housing should be a right, not a guaranteed profit stream.

I was apartment hunting and more than a few shoe box units I looked at were rented out to ’students‘ with the landlord now selling.
Checking sale history as part of my own due diligence, Some will walk away with a nice capital gain because they bought and sat on the property for a good 10+ years. Others not so much.
Zero sympathy.
Why does the media keep running sob stories for landlords profiteering from the housing crisis? They always mention „small landlords“ and always depict a visible minority as one.
This is nothing more than rich investors whining that their gravy train at the public’s expense has come to an end, and the media shamelessly carrying water for them.
