> Israel says Hamas has handed over all 20 surviving hostages as part of the Gaza ceasefire deal.
I had my doubts Hamas would actually do it.
Great for those 20 people.

Finally, some humanity after two years. Hope it’s not just a pause before the next round.

So apparently the first phase is actually going pretty well? Curious about this afternoon summit and how the rest of the deal is going to be implemented.

Why are the Israeli people always „hostages“, but the Palestinians are always „prisoners“?

Is there any in,inh of what’s going to happen next? Like is it basically going to go back to the situation before oct 7th or is there going to be a some kind of transition into a Palestinian state including West Bank and Gaza?

Great news but the term is Palestinian hostages*. People held with no charges, illegally with no recourse for the purpose of leverage aren’t prisoners they are hostages.
To all the bad actors downvoting, there is no excuse for imprisoning innocent people in order to cause terror. Both sides of this conflict are guilty of that. BOTH PALESTINIANS and ISRAELIS are both EQUAL, no human is above one another.

I’m cautiously optimistic..happy that the hostages are released and that there might be a path to peace in our lifetime

I pass a banner dedicated to the twins every day on my way to work. They were separated almost immediately and have spent the past 2 years not just in a hellish situation, but also wondering if the other was still alive. Seeing them safely ruinited was wonderful.

Wow. I kind of can’t believe they actually did it. Now Israel demands they fully disarm, Hamas refuses, and the war starts again. What’s the benefit to Hamas in this? Are they really that desperate to get however many days/weeks to regroup?

Amazing that in the general reddit feed this is the only article about this incredible moment. After scrolling through two pages.
