it would only benefit people to read up on the happenings of Russia from 89′-93′. And truthfully I see a lot of similarities in modern day US actions of a certain group of powerful business owners and politicians.

That whole period when the USSR was falling apart and the oligarchs were grabbing everything basically ran from 1989 to the mid-’90s. Gorbachev’s reforms in the late ’80s (perestroika and glasnost) loosened control and exposed how broken the system was. By 1991, the Soviet Union officially collapsed, and Russia broke off under Boris Yeltsin.

The real “oligarch land grab” kicked off around 1992–1993, when Yeltsin’s government started “voucher privatization.” They sold off huge state industries like oil, gas, steel, and banking for next to nothing. The people who had cash or connections often former Soviet insiders or black-market figures snapped everything up. That’s when guys like Berezovsky, Abramovich, and Khodorkovsky became insanely rich. Like, OUT OF THIS WORLD RICH…

So while the USSR collapsed in ’91, the chaotic rush for power and wealth that defined Russia’s “wild ’90s” really unfolded over the next few years.

I was just helping my fiancé write a paper for her Western History college class about why civilizations rise and fall. And was making the argument that the US is in its twilight. All good empires and civilizations come to an end eventually. As will the current one. It’s just a matter of time.

This could be true. The way Donald Trump (and many other politicians) operates is almost as if he knows something we don’t.
