The US has conceded development of renewable energy to China. But I hear coal is about to make a big comeback!
Goal Zero is a US based company in Utah which makes emergency portable power stations and solar panels. They also make off-grid solar power solutions etc. They were industry leaders and their products would be deployed to disaster zones all over the world, and here domestically via Team Rubicon.
Now EcoFlow (a chinese company) is the industry leader. While all power stations are made in China, the firmware is from China and the servers for the app and power solutions is based in China.
It’s actually a legitimate national security problem. China could launch a massive massive energy grid cyber attack, taking down our power infrastructure. And just before that they could literally just send out code from their servers in China to brick everyone’s backup power equipment
Trump and Hegseth are banging the war drum about some ficticious BS called „Golden Dome“. But the real threat to national security is not having redundant multiple source power generation

Trump has been cancelling huge utility and power projects throughout America without replacing them.
Basically cutting supply while demand grows.

I work in thr solar industry, From top to bottom there are people who voted for trump and now I’m watching them scramble to try and keep the company aflot. Of course the ones I talk to don’t regret their vote even tho layoff are coming with the possibility of the company closing down.
