The new series will debut with its first two episodes on Jan. 15, 2026, with new episodes dropping weekly thereafter through March 12. The announcement was made during the “Star Trek” Universe panel at New York Comic-Con on Saturday.
In addition, it was revealed during the panel that Stephen Colbert is officially part of the show — at least, his voice is. Colbert will voice Starfleet Academy’s Digital Dean of Students, giving daily announcements to the students and alerting them of anything that needs their immediate attention.
Not super thrilled with Kurtzman’s vision of what Star Trek is.
I watch Star Trek to see competent officers doing their jobs. Kurtzman has Star Fleet officers that wander around in an overwhelmed daze, constantly crying about how hard their lives are, stumbling through solutions that just get handed to them.
The description of the commanding officer, is that she’s sometimes the “Mom” of the group.
I’m sorry. But that’s just fucking stupid. If you want to watch that, great more power to you – but we should expect better from 60 year old series. Better writing, better characters, written by people who actually like and understand Star Trek.
Less flashy lights, less fucking, less childish drama, fewer actors pulling faces and talking with the punchline tone. Like seriously ffs. Anyhow meh
If I wanted to watch people suck at their jobs I can just turn on reality.
