“is now in a state of abandonment” that statement makes it sound like it’s a recent thing but it’s been abandoned since the early 90s.

Better get these old underground fields back to mint condition for they would be the only place safe in the coming war with Russia. They’re training their reserve army to conduct ops with low yield tactical nukes.

Ukraine should do it immediately. It will be safe for Ukrainian aviation. Carpathian mountains could be ideal place. It might not be 3.5km like it. Most important thing is to cover aircrafts in safe place.
