I don’t think this film is as popular with liberals as he’d like to think

    2. The movie made racists look like the moronic idiots they are. Cons sad 🙁

I mean, it’s a 90s book with a flavor of 70s violent leftist activism pastiched all over “the present”.

Does he think it also aligns with rightist sensitivities because it depicts some John Birch level fantasies about law and power?

Another person who doesn’t understand that “Liberal” and “Leftist” are two different things.

Should I be the first to mention that Thomas Pynchon is a far better writer than Ellis?

Hardly a bad movie , i did enjoy it alot personally,  but lets not pretend this is anything close to his best work.

Dang you mean conservatives remain uncool no matter how loud and annoying they get trying to prove otherwise?

    8. Bret Easton Ellis was the first person I had been a fan of that I ever unfollowed on Twitter like 10+ years ago because his opinions on everything were absolutely ridiculous and just made me mad.

It’s hilarious that he simps so hard for the party whose members would stone him to death if they got the green light

    10. It’s funny because ‘black twitter’ has been bashing the movie for its portrayal of black females. The movie doesn’t actually make the revolutionaries look very intelligent or moralistic. You can’t please everybody. I thought it was great.

I love American Psycho, and I think Bret Easton Ellis has been right about many things, but I don’t think he is right about this. I don’t even understand what the term leftist means the way talking heads use it despite how many times I hear it regurgitated.

I don’t understand, is Ellis not a part of the left? He’s a gay dude who wrote one of the most scathing critiques of yuppy culture of all time, along with toxic masculinity lol

I guess I haven’t really followed his public persona much, but this is still surprising.

As opposed to conservative traitors? Is that the view we should be promoting?

    14. Well, not everything can star the theatrical powerhouse that is Kirk Cameron.

    15. I’m not necessarily surprised that Bret is a conservative but you’d think he’d at least be smart enough to realize that writing American Psycho will be used against him when the time comes for conservatives to round him up

    16. Assassin’s Creed had to scrap a new game that took place after the Civil War because it was too political to make the „KKK“ look like villains. That’s where we currently are as a society.

He calls it outdated somehow, but it’s not clear what he actually means by this. If anything it’s more forward-looking, like when are we going to see actual leftists liberating the ICE camps? He’s acting as if we’ve already moved on from this, but it hasn’t even started.
