      That’s really interesting. The gut brain connection keeps showing up in more studies. Even small diet changes seem to have a bigger mental impact than most people realize.

      I told my husband that I noticed my mood drops significantly when I start drinking soft drinks and he thought I have the causation backwards – that maybe my mood drops first so I start drinking and eating sweet things.

      Turns out I had it right. I stopped drinking them and drink green tea with honey instead

    4. The most interesting thing about this study to me is how the correlation seemed to only affect the women who participated.

      There was roughly double the amount of female participation but still, there were 300ish male participants too. I would think that’s enough to get a relevant data set.

    5. Whenever you see a study find that „A is linked to B“, always check if they make any claim about the direction of causation. The possibilities are:

      A causes B.

      B causes A.

      Both A and B are caused by C.

      Coincidence or poor experimental design.

      So in this case, maybe depressed women drink more soft drink because they are depressed.
