Anticipating the arrival of hundreds of demonstrators, Tesla said it would shut the factory for four days, telling its employees to work from home. This comes after climate activists have been camped out next to Tesla’s factory for weeks. Why?

Their reasons for being here are part environmental, part anti-capitalist, 24-year-old activist Mara, who has camped out for weeks next to the factory, explains. Tesla’s ambition, to produce 1 million electric cars a year in Germany, isn’t in service to the climate, Mara says. Instead she describes the 300-hectare Tesla factory as a byproduct of “green capitalism,” a plot by companies to appear environmentally friendly in order to convince consumers to keep buying more stuff. “This has been completely thought up by such companies to have more growth, even in times of an environmental crisis,” she says, adding that the protesters have had no contact with Tesla.

Well they’re not wrong. Musk is only the greatest scam artist of our time IMO.

Read up on the Vegas Tunnels, you’ll see exactly what I mean. A glorified ferris wheel of teslas on rails isn’t a public transit solution but just an excuse to sell more cars.

So Tesla is taking their ability away to cause issues 🤷🏼‍♂️

Terrible summary of a title. Doesn’t inform the reader of the true reason of shutdowns.

Should be “Tesla shuts down German factory in anticipation of protests disrupting operations”

  5. I forget, what did they do to Volkswagen when they were convicted of messing with their environmental test? Not defending Tesla. I’m just curious

    >The green transition was supposed to be an opportunity to radically restructure the economy, she says, not just electrify the one we already have.

In the UK (and probably lots of other places), this is called “watermelon politics” – people using a thin veneer of Green politics, which they don’t actually care about intrinsically, to actually push through anti-capitalist policies (the large core of red flesh inside a watermelon).

It’s not an approach that I think is deserving of much respect, whether you agree with either anti-capitalism or Green politics, or neither.

They also paid ZERO in US taxes last year. And received a 3 MILLION dollar refund! 😡

  8. When Germany stops shutting down nuclear power plants I’ll take their opinions on environmentalism seriously.
