Fucking yikes, I’m terrified. Maybe this is why they’re not fighting as hard in Utah.

I remain hopeful. The best maps they could make could be dummymanders. I just wish California did a full 52-0 map.

I just want to remind btw that the Constitution gives Congress the right to rule on what SCOTUS can review. The 15th amendment gives Congress the exclusive right to legislate to guarantee equality/equity in voting and representation. The VRA acts on that exclusive right and SCOTUS cannot strike this shit down. Every time has been unconstitutional.

    2. I don’t think even GOP voters want this. Adding more seats puts more pressure on the voter base to turn out, and if things go wrong It could cause those seats to turn purple in retaliation for taking the voters for granted.

Which means instead of a civil war we have what will later be called a „Second American Revolution“. Fascists always think their reign will last forever but even the most popular fail in a relatively short number of years.

And these guys are not popular, No one takes over a country with roughly 25% of the population supporting them.

Yes 25%-30% is all the support they have when you add gerrymandering, Voter suppression and half the voters just not voting.

That 50% of non-voters are just ignoring everything right now because their lives are not disrupted but that will change with how dumb and regressive these republicans are.

    4. When people complain about a two party system and refuse to vote.

      Monkey paw curls.

They won’t need to worry about a two party system soon. There will only be one party.

    5. I would say the article’s title seems to misrepresent what’s being suggested.
The number of seats are capped by law. A law even SCOTUS has to agree to.
What they are trying is to redraw enough electorial maps to change 19 seats to guaranteed republican votes.
SCOTUS is set to listen to a case that tries to scrap a protection that ensures minorities have fair representation in congressional maps.

I like how they are planning so they win, 🤔 I don’t think so I think you have a great chance someone is going to come shining brighter.

    7. Moving down the public list of the Heritage 2025 points to accomplish that will do just that.

    8. Trump Hijacked the supreme court in his first administration.

McConnel helped him steal the Obama SCOTUS nominee and then they railroaded through Ginsbergs‘ replacement literally the week before a presidential election. Unheard of.

This is doubly infuriating because not only was that nomination in the last 5% of Trump’s term, but the excuse McConnel gave Obama that prevented his nominee from getting a congressional vote was that „It was an election year“. Four years later they warpspeed a SCOTUS nominee through 2 months before the end of a president’s term in a blindingly obvious hypocritical move.

      Talk about walking corruption.

The only way we can fix this court is by removing these extremists from the bench due to dereliction of duty and corruption or by stacking the courts. We can’t have decades of American history be tainted by a corrupt supreme court because one president stole a nominee and forced another through. There has to be a way around this.

    9. The Democrats need to expand the Supreme Court the next time they gain power.

This one party system has already ruined America in just 8 months. Some one save us

Here’s the issue… Who’s to say everyone in these traditional, or heavily registered Republican areas they so badly want to create are going to vote Republican or even vote at all after their party drags them thru the dirt and destroys their lives.

I don’t care how stupid a human is, if they can’t eat, or afford to survive, the ones who took that away from them aren’t going to be well liked and you can only lie to them so long till reality is undeniable.

    12. This is the result they want. SCOTUS will invent a legal justification to support this, even though it’s blatantly unconstitutional.

Funny how everything Republicans do is exactly what they think communism and socialism mean.

It is amazing at how republican voters are OK with the cheating and burning the constitution.

    15. Uncle_Hephaestus on

they would have to be elected to those seats assuming the gerrymandering actually works

    16. UserColonAlW on

So how will America save itself from this? This is looking fucking dire.

If everyone was allowed to vote Republicans would never win another election. – Donald Trump

Republicans know they’re policies are unpopular. Republicans know they do not represent the majority of Americans. Republicans know they have to cheat to stay in power.

Trump and Republicans have killed America. I hope they enjoy their police state, I’m outta here.

    19. KinkyPaddling on

Shit like this is why I can’t believe that people still cling to the hope that the midterms will save us. That time has passed. People need to be ready for active resistance when the time comes (I.e., when enough independents are hurting enough to finally get off their asses to act), be that mass protests, a general strike, etc.

    20. We all just stand here and act surprised that they are still doing exactly what they said they would do

    21. batgirlyy31 on

It is all about gerrymandering. A one party system is not what America’s supposed to be about. We need checks and balance not a monopoly on power. This ruling will clear the path for Republican to dominates the house for generations

    22. McGuyver-112 on

“While a ruling in time for next year’s midterms is unlikely” don’t be too sure about that. This president has the courts in its pocket, so bid farewell to that Democracy.

    23. When I I took that oath, I never thought I would have to use the domestic part. Think about it, the civil rights movement was 60 years ago and some States didn’t act right until the 90’s

    24. Trump literally told his supporters they were arranging it so that they wouldn’t have to worry about voting anymore after this one.

What did people think he meant?
