If there is one thing we know about Trump, it is that he is only laughing, joking and complimenting people when he is winning. Otherwise, they are the worst person in the world and, quite possibly, in the history of the world…maybe all worlds.
I didn’t take much comfort from the jovial mood in the White House yesterday. It takes an awful lot of giving to get Trump in that good of a mood. Trump thinks in zero sum terms, in order for him to win you have to lose.
There is still no deal and Lutnick said today that there will be no deal on autos.
For now, they need our steel and aluminum but, as I have posted in other threads, they want to produce their own steel and aluminum, so watch out for a deal with quotas that the Americans can unilaterally decrease in the coming years that will slowly destroy those industries in Canada.
Carney was elected because of his apparent ability to stand up to the ugly bullies down south. If he has no interest in actually doing that then he will find himself replaced sooner rather than later. Sadly it will mean he is replaced by an even bigger USA appeaser but it is what it is.
I still don’t see how Poilievre will do better when it comes to Trump. He needs to offer more “meat” with his argument.
When it comes to diversify our trading partners, Carney is still a better candidate because of his network and background.
If only we had a proper opposition. I really am not happy with Carney for a variety of reasons, but the alternative is far harder to stomach. I hate it, but I’m starting to understand people who don’t vote.

Do people not realize it takes months of negotiations to make trade deals?. As it should to make sure the best deals are completed.
Conservatives find themselves in the awkward position of having to criticize Carney for doing his job while meeting their idol Trump.
Poilievre wouldn’t be happy no matter what deal got done or when. He’s got no value to add to the current conversation at all.
PP has really been putting on a show lately. He has the upcoming leadership review and is trying to get his base wound up. I’m wondering what tricks they have up their sleeve to try and subdue any Progressive voters. That’s the main reason they are having it in Alberta the end of January hoping for bad weather to keep people from other regions away.
