I’m often left wanting more detail in surveys like this. Like, I don’t think racism will ever be gotten rid off for good. Also it sucks that people experience it, so then surely it is a signifigant problem if even one person experiences it?
But then we have people forgetting that and talking about how Finland’s such a horribly racist country, which takes this contextless survey and directly compares it to other countries. And, in comparison to 99 % of the world, I would say racism is not a signifigant issue here.
Idk. I guess it’s easy headlines.

Yep, I’ve encountered a lot of racism from people that have background from MENA countries.

Racism? No. Discrimination? Yes. And it was company turning down foreign applicants citing cultural difference. And it has been proven for years. Otherwise, the common Finnish people aren’t that racist like they make it out to be

Inb4 the thread gets full of white finns aggressively asserting there’s no racism here and dismissing any experiences shared by poc here.
Oh too late

Funny they may say it but then the actions when it comes to hiring hasn’t changed. And oftentimes the viewpoints are still messed up on a lot of angles.

Of all the problems Finland has, I don’t think racism is close to any of the biggest.
Sincerely,
A foreigner.

Well that’s not a suprise when the definition of racism gets watered down year after year. I have very diverse group of friends and most of them have expressed not having experienced much racism. Some, of course. Although racism is technically on the rise when the economy is collapsing and people see immigrants getting support from the government, the support the native population feel they are not getting or the support they feel they should be getting instead of them, often rightfully so.
