      Can expect another big hit with property tax being hiked. No energy credits and carbon tax. Add inflation and the squeezed middle are considerably worse off.

      Im losing around 100 a year, and i do understand that seems something so small to be upset about, but with the cost of everything gone up so much, trying to save for a mortgage (more out of reach then ever) and having to pay privately for my child’s OT as the waiting lists publicly are years I just feel so dejected.

      Watching RTE question Jack Chambers last night was poor. Chambers said that record amount of investment, both public and private, was being spent on housing. Surly the follow up question would be to ask, if record amounts of money was being spent on housing, why are the outcomes so poor in terms of delivery and home ownership for average working people? Weak journalism. We need Vincent Browne to make a comeback.

      Until folks vote in regards to political parties and not voting on who you knew personally whom have no power when instructed by their party to do as their told, we will have these austerity budgets 3 out of 4 years every cycle. But don’t worry folks! Few more years when the GE comes up, they’ll release a “soft budget” for us stupid people to vote them in again..

      Say what you want, but I’m absolutely okay with this. There’s more to society than *me, me, me,* and to know that an extra few euro from my payslip can help those in more vulnerable situations than myself is something I welcome. Ideal for me? No. But that’s not how society works.

      Clearly that’s incredibly bad statistics. There’s no 500€ tax increase on someone whose salary stays the same.

      McDonald’s needs the tax breaks more than you need your heating this winter.

      Was unemployed for 5 months this year and was told I couldn’t qualify for housing support because I earn too much; working now again, good money admittedly but paying over €2k a month in tax and another €2k in rent – I’m one of those propping the economy up but getting absolutely nothing back from it. It’s exhausting.

      Make it about 1400. We literally can’t even be given any crumbs to make it seem like there’s something done for the plebs… Fuck their investments when its all the same potholes, same shit holes and same CEOs getting money.

      If I’ve said it once I’ll say it again, the state these days only exists to transfer your wealth to others, you work for it, you take the stress for it and you earn it.

      The state takes and offers fuck all in return.

      I understand the need for tax hikes given our aging population, lack of infrastructure and economic uncertainty.

      However – they are drawing money from the wrong place. They should be taxing wealth and assets not income. There’s huge amounts of **unearned** wealth in the country that goes untaxed while most of us are finding things tighter and tighter financially each year.

      Tax wealth not work.

      I’ve just had my first child, I’m raising him in my childhood bedroom while we scramble to get a house miles away from our support networks because it’s all we can afford.

      This is so frustrating. We did everything ‚right‘. We buckled down in school, got a decent LC, went to college (twice!) and got well paying jobs. Yet we struggle while big corporations go laughing to the banks. We should be on the streets about this. General strikes by everyone left worse off so they see how badly they need our labour, and how they’d do well to remember that it all falls apart without the worker.
