      October 2025, Medical Assistance in Dying (MAID) is not available for mature minors in Canada. Canadian law specifies that a person must be at least 18 years old and have the capacity to make health decisions to be eligible for MAID.

      They were talking about MAID for mature minors would be limited to those with a grievous and irremediable medical condition (Track 1), not those with a mental illness or whose deaths were not reasonably foreseeable.

      This is what freedom actually looks like, by allowing people who choose to end their lives a comfortable way to do it. Why should anyone be forced to go on living if they find life unbearable? This world does not care about individuals, how many of them are freezing on the street right now? The public loses their minds over the idea of socialism and taxpayer funds being used for social programs, this is the alternative to that. Pick a lane already. You either care or you don’t and since voters consistently vote for parties who slash social programs, it’s clear you don’t care. So mind your own business and go build your brand. Hypocrites.

      Do you all actually understand what this is? Say you’re 16 and you are 100% going to die from a terminal painful illness. Instead of waiting for death to come as your body struggles to stay alive, you can just end it fast. It shouldn’t matter your age, it’s what’s humane.

      I have no problem with any person of any age deciding to end their life rather than suffer through a painful and prolonged inevitable death.

      If I had a kid and they where in severe pain, say from terminal cancer,I would let then go in there sleep. Some parents would make them suffer, u til they where 18. Fuck that

      I disagree with this for people of all ages but if it’s going to be allowed it should at least be limited to people who have fully developed brains.

      It’s hard enough for adults with terminal illnesses to get access to MAiD, if you are in a hospital or hospice that is run by a Christian organization for example covenant health, they make it hard for the patient to even meet with someone from there in the facility. One lady with ALS had to have her meeting across the street from hospice in a fucking bus shelter in the cold ffs. So for kids to access it so easily like this is insinuating I doubt would be that easy unless the parents ethics were called into question. This is propaganda made by people against MAiD for anyone and it’s a shame because it’s misleading and is actually hurting the people who genuinely need it. If someone of any age is terminally ill and in extreme pain for which there is no end why should they be made to suffer against their will? Because it makes other people uncomfortable? Contradicts the religious beliefs of those not experiencing the pain? Forcing someone to suffer because you don’t agree with what they consider a dignified death is what is actually wicked here. I wish MAiD was a thing when I nursed people with cancer because what I saw some people go through is worse than hell. At a certain point you are not prolonging someone’s life you are only prolonging their suffering and that goes for kids too. It’s a sad reality of life. We all die, but it shouldn’t be horrible and painful if it doesn’t need to be. If you don’t agree with MAiD then good for you, don’t get it. It’s as easy as that. But don’t try to control the life of someone who has such horrible pain that even fentanyl can’t touch it. That’s just fucking cruel
