Already love Rep Grijalva for making Mike „The Epstein Files Make Us Look Bad“ Johnson sweat.

    2. reddittorbrigade on

Four or five years from now, Johnson’s friends and family will disown him for protecting the pedophile president.

    3. Once again the GOP act in bad faith, with them unwillingly standing by their own words and the rules of their offices.

She needs to start trolling him.

“So I’m good now. Should I come over?”

    5. Yo, media: It’s called a constitutional crisis if the people elected to Congress are prevented from serving in Congress. Maybe you need to start covering this story differently to better reflect its urgency.

    6. Seems like the people of her district shouldn’t have to pay federal taxes until that happens. No taxation without representation?

      Release the Epstein files, unredacted.

At this point we KNOW that the man grinning in pics together with Epstein & Maxwell will be in it.

    8. The Dems are getting close to controlling The House if MTG and a couple other Republicans are flippable to install a Dem speaker with some compromises made. This might be why the shutdown is going to be protracted.

    9. I can see the Republicans loosing so badly in the mid-terms, they’ll claim voter fraud and try to invalidate the vote.

    10. Hey fascist shitheads are denying our countrymen representation. I wish we had some kind of amendment for this type of situation. Oh well.

At this point she should just try to go in and take a seat in the chamber. Force them to physically remove her.

      >Speaker Mike Johnson is not planning to allow Democrats’ newest congresswoman-elect to be sworn-in until her party agrees to end the government shutdown, despite telling CNN earlier Tuesday that he would swear her in “as soon as she wants.”

      >“We will swear in Rep.-Elect [Adelita] Grijalva as soon as the House returns to session when Chuck Schumer, Mark Kelly and Ruben Gallego decide to open up the government,” a leadership aide said Tuesday.

      >The move amounts to an extraordinary power play to deny a sitting member a seat.

      >While the leadership aide contended “it’s a customary practice in the House to swear in members when the chamber is in legislative session,” Johnson swore in Florida GOP Reps. Jimmy Patronis and Randy Fine during a pro forma session earlier this year.

      >As the government shutdown has dragged on without the Senate able to reach a deal to fund the government, the House has been holding brief “pro forma” sessions where the chamber is quickly gaveled out and is not engaged in legislative business.

      >Johnson, asked earlier Tuesday why he had not sworn in Grijalva during a pro forma session when she was elected in September and whether it was connected to a push to vote on the release of the Jeffrey Epstein case files, said: “No, it has nothing to do with that at all. We will swear her in when everybody gets back. It’s a ceremonial duty.”

      >“Look, we’ll schedule it, I guess, as soon as she wants. It has nothing to do with it. I, we’re in pro forma session because there is nothing for the House to do. The House has done its job,” the speaker said when pressed by CNN on why he was waiting for the full House to return.

Johnson did not explain why he has chosen to delay her swearing in, even though he has handled other members differently.

      >“Speaker Johnson needs to stop dragging his feet and follow the same precedent he set in swearing in his Republican colleagues earlier this year. If he would simply give me a date and time, I will be there,” Grijalva said in a statement to CNN.

    13. This shouldn’t be a thing she shouldn’t need to be sworn in she got the votes she won.

As soon as I read the headline I was WTF, this can’t be the whole story.

M.Johnson is such a slimly weasle, no more credibility than the rest of TheRumps clowns.

He, and the rest of congress are still collecting their paychecks, surely they have time for a swearing-in, since no other government business is being conducted.

    15. I knew this wasn’t happening because the government shutdown is to delay the swearing-in the 218th signature of the Epstein discharge petition. Healthcare for illegals is just a distraction!

But it’s not a matter of when he wants to, or when she wants to; it’s a matter of what the constituency wants.  They’ve already voted; they deserve her representation *now*.

      >Now Republicans are backtracking

It’s not that they’re backtracking ***now***.

It’s that they were lying ***then***.

    18. findingmike on

Make her the spokesperson of the Democratic party. Then reporters can ask if she’s been sworn in yet.

    19. batgirlyy29 on

It’s hilarious that Johnson swore in Republican representatives during a pro forma session, but suddenly doesn’t have time for Democrat. Talk of a double standard

    20. Just another example of how the morons in the Democratic party who „took the high road“ for the last 30 years have buried us.

Redistrict EVERY state now. Take seats by any means necessary. You can’t play by the rules against a team that cheats every second of every day.

    21. Artistic-Cannibalism on

Is there anything stopping her from just showing up and taking her seat?

    22. Kinda wanted her to pop in from off screen and say “how ‘bout now?”

Like Chris Rock in Head of State demanding a debate.

    23. Traditional-Leg-1574 on

Soundbite don’t mean action. Could even be distraction Watch what they do.

    24. Neat_Trust3168 on

The will of the people elected her to represent them. Swearing in is just a formality. Give her the keys to her office. Have another Dem share their office with her. I’d like to see Johnson try keep her from her participating in voting and the Dems can take this to the courts if she is blocked from participating on formality,
