>Trump ‘directing’ his cabinet secretaries to make a deal
Damn that is some pretty strong language and probably the closest we’ve been yet to a new deal. I wonder what they are talking about in terms of a deal with energy. Perhaps a new oil pipeline between the USA and Canada? One can only hope.
The fact Pierre Poilievre blames Carney more than Trump for Canada not getting a trade deal, speaks volumes on how much more he would capitulate if he were PM.
My expectations were low but it seems like this was a redo of the last public meeting he had with him. Hopefully this is a positive step in the CUSMA renegotiation but with Trump, I’m not holding my optimistic breath.
I want to understand what Carney meant by sending a trillion dollars to the US over the next five years. I know Trump likes hearing these big numbers and I can imagine a number like that would be part of a trade deal but how is that supposed to happen without immense capital flight or printing a ton of cash.
