If approved, the plant would occupy 570 hectares, with 199 hectares dedicated to solar arrays. It aims to produce an average of 680 GWh annually over 35 years. The project includes plans for a battery park to optimize energy use by storing electricity generated during low-demand periods and supplying it to the grid during peak hours. If successful, the estimated output would represent 1.4% of Portugal’s current electricity consumption. Construction would involve nearly 630,000 solar panels and could take three years to complete.
