      I know the defence lawyers are just doing their job, but you can’t, on the one hand, argue that they deserve leniency for moving to Ireland to give their kids a better life, and on the other hand, argue that their culture means loyalty to family over the state.

      I can’t find the words for this. Ashling’s partner said it all. I can’t understand why we give so much to people who selfishly abuse and take.

      ‘Defence lawyers asked the court for leniency and said their clients would face difficulties in prison as they were not Irish’. This is irrelevant. Justice should be served fairly and evenly, regardless whether you’re Iocal or not and are caught breaking the law.
