I also have low expectations, but not because of Carney. I just think it’s madness to try to meet and negotiate with a terrorist.

I have no doubt we could get a deal, but the question is whether the deal is worth getting.  Based on what we’ve seen peer countries debase themselves to get, I’d say the answer is „no“

Curse of Politics went off on how the PMO has handled – or not handled – communications surrounding this visit. Even if something surprisingly good comes from it. Worth a watch.

Nothing good will come with any meeting with the demented, dishonourable Donald. His words mean less than nothing.
He’s a rapist and grifter who hates Canada and Canadians and wants to do as much damage to us all as he can.
Any “deal” that possibly could be made will be pissed on as soon as carney leaves and Donald will be back to his terrorist threats of Canadian take over and invasion.
Fuck MAGA and Donald to the deepest pits of hell.

You can’t negotiate with a man whose word means absolutely nothing. Donald does not know how to negotiate or compromise. He only knows how to bully and demean. I see nothing substantial coming out of this meeting for either country, but particularly for Canada. We’re dealing with a madman terrorist who also wants a Peace Prize. An Orwellian nightmare come to life.

    6. Calling it now: Trump will (continue to) refuse to negotiate in good faith, Carney will come home empty-handed, right-wing pundits will lay the entirety of the blame on Carney.
