She’s being paid by oil and gas to say that. How about locally manufacturing solar panels or investing in renewables? There are environmentally sustainable ways to be competitive that don’t pump more carbon into the atmosphere
Renewable passed coal for power production world wide, with India and China leading the way, but sure, let’s double down on the petrol state issue and to hell with the environment.
She realizes that for the same money Quebec could literally pay to put a Hydro Line under the Atlantic connecting to Europe through Greenland-Iceland-UK/Norway, right?
Smith is so blatantly an oil & gas lobbyist. Did she mention the 1000 job cuts impérial oil is making in Calgary and shifting to the US?
Alberta is literally falling apart. Maybe she should focus on her own province and see what’s needed to improve it. By speaking with people who live there it’s becoming a horrible mess. They use all that oil and gas money to give tax breaks to the wealthy while everyone else has to make do with less.
We are sitting on billions of dollars of natural gas and other resources that we don’t develop. There’s a number of reasons for that and I can see how Alberta would find that frustrating considering we’re the largest recipient of equalization.
The will to develop has to be there and the overwhelming consensus in Québec isn’t there.
Québec would be much better off investing in blue and green hydrogen as well as the mining of rare and precious metals, among other things. Québec can become the battery of North America with how abundant hydro is.
Perhaps Alberta should study Norway to learn how to better position Alberta’s royalties before assisting Quebec.
So how does this help Albertans?
– It encourages natural gas producers to spend money in another province, at the expense of Albertan jobs and growth
– If successful, it reduces the demand for natural gas, costing Albertan revenue
– It does nothing to support development within Alberta
Oh wait, it’s almost as if Danielle isn’t about supporting Albertans, she’s about helping her O&G masters and doing anything possible to „screw the feds“, even to the detriment of her own constituents.
