      The Matrix was based on historical myths, religions, philosophy, from world religions, and most famously the book Simulacra and Simulation which looks at the relationships between reality, symbols, and society.
      It would make sense that the Wachowskis crammed as many references like this as they could.

      The creators of the Matrix were deep into Gnostic Christianity. The entire story is a metaphor of Gnostic doctrine.

      If you listen to Tucker’s recent interview they discuss Kabbalah as a religious tool used by demons to create AI / the anti-holy ghost. Agent smith’s directive is to protect the enslavement of the human race, which would be the ultimate goal of lucifer.

      I remember reading decades ago about all the Bible references and others for the series. Lots of good stuff.

      Laurence Fishburne himself said that Matrix is about Jesus.

      He said that Cypher is Judas, Neo is Jesus obviously, he fall in love with „Trinity“ etc etc …

      I remember watching some long video about the Matrix trilogy that analyzed every scene, even the „plotholes“ and tried to make sense of all of it. Can’t remember the details, but the general conclusion was that the Oracle was the true villain.

      I thought it said Israel with the E and L switched.

      Well they did make the „architect“ look like a god of sorts, wearing all white, watching everything. Maybe that’s literally what’s going on. Maybe God is a programmer and we live in his MMO.
