OK, but what’s the point with Leavitt anymore?! She’s dishonest, sure, but she’s a true believer, she’s just going to go up to the podium and spew talking points, any even decent reporter aren’t doing anything that approaches accountability and they’re just playing a part in this political theater. It doesn’t deserve our attention anymore and legitimate news organizations should just walk away instead of this daily presentation from TACO Belle….

I think Leavitt is really auditioning for the job of spokesperson for Kim Jon Un. Nothing she says has any semblance to the truth.
It would seem she just can’t fathom why anyone would be afraid of people in dark masks, carrying assault style weapons, throwing people to the ground and tying their hands behind them (including children) and then shipping them off to lord knows where and possibly never to be seen again. She surely must be a compassionate individual.

And of course most of us here know this, but just to push back on Leavitt’s „facts“ –
1) For the 100 or so days in which there have been protests near Portland’s ICE building, they have been overwhelmingly small (like fewer than 25 people) and peaceful, with protesters staying on their side of the perimeter line. ICE has nonetheless been using teargas on them, and just recently other fed agents and conservative activists have tried to stir up trouble too. And deliberately [injured some 84-year-olds](https://www.oregonlive.com/politics/2025/10/federal-agents-knock-down-elderly-couple-during-portland-protest.html). (No National Guard agents have shown up yet, as far as I know.)
2) The ICE building in Portland is **not** federal property. It’s owned by the city of Portland. ICE is just leasing it (and they’ve been [breaking the terms of their lease](https://www.oregonlive.com/portland/2025/09/ice-in-portland-broke-detention-rules-25-times-violating-permit-city-finds.html) too).
Unpopular opinion, Democrats are harming themselves on fighting the portland/antifa/ice discourse. This is exactly what GOP wants to. Government is shutdown, talk about that
It’s generally confined to a block or two, and if less than 100 people at almost any given time. The rest of the city is operating as usual. For anyone wondering.

Dude I would put my money on it that there are 25 to 50 people tops there every night. Every shot they put up of the ICE facility there is zoomed so far in. Also that thing has been boarded up since 2020. I used to live like a mile and a half from it.

Leavitt is citing one area, the concentration camp has protesters. Trump keeps saying the entire city needs saving. Portland doesn’t want Trump’s support, because he doesn’t have his facts straight. He’s making up a crisis.
If you read advice columns, and I do, s classic control tactic is to go nuclear to shut the other person down. That’s what this woman does, perhaps it works in her personal life.
I lived in Oregon for many years, and I still spend a good amount of time there. I have many friends there, in Portland and Eugene especially.
There is no invasion or war happening there other than the one Trump and his admin are now waging. Do not believe the bullshit.

I don’t like Leavitt, but isn’t “loses it” a bit of an exaggeration here? Yes she lies like an old well worn rug, but when I saw “loses it”, I was expecting rabid foaming at the mouth, harpy like screeching, and maniacal arm waving, not Leavitt acting like she always does.
And yet they are still in power and working everyday to gaslight the public into believing they are there for them.
