tldr; Grayscale has introduced staking rewards for its Ethereum Trust ETFs (ETHE and ETH), marking the first time U.S. investors in Ethereum ETFs can earn staking rewards. The firm will use institutional custodians like Coinbase and validator networks for staking. This move follows Ethereum’s 2022 transition to a proof-of-stake model and aims to boost adoption of Ethereum ETFs, which have lagged behind Bitcoin ETFs. Grayscale plans to expand staking to more products as the digital asset ecosystem evolves.

    2. It blows my mind that this didn’t cause a larger gain in $ETH and $ETHE today.

Increasing the annual return of the fund by a guaranteed 2.5% is a big deal. I would think it would cause an appreciable increase in interest, at least until the other ETH ETFs also start staking their ETH.

I think they are aiming for $3B inflows by Q2/Q3 2026.
ETH might reach $10k this bull run

Blackrock also has a proposal filed with the SEC for staking in their Ethereum etf. Why weren’t they approved at the same time?
