Leavitt is who I see when I think „Typical American Girl“. She’s quite literally the sassy rich blond of every American movies.

She’s perfect for her role, she’s America.

And I don’t say this nicely.

    2. Damn. I guess all those government websites and automated email replies blaming Radical Left Democrats in Congress for the shutdown aren’t winning the argument.

    3. „WHY WON’T THEY ACCEPT MY LIES, I AM THE LEADERER“ – djt, probably, screaming at a fox news showing TV somewhere.

    4. Dos Trump actually win at anything he tries to battle with ? I mean he’s won the hate cruelty and racism game hands down but everything else he loses .

    5. Another day, another article claiming the maga administration is mad about bad polls.

      They. Do. Not. Care.

    6. I wouldn’t call it a coalition, it’s a cult of personality. Once Trump keels over with a coronary the whole lot of them will start to tear each other to shreds.

Let’s also ask her about how MAGA is zip tying toddlers and firebombing the houses of judges.

    8. Republicans: it’s super fucking hard to claim you’re not the ones shutting down the government when half your yahoos are constantly online cheering for your success at shutting down the government.

Threats, blame, lawlessness, same-old-same-old shit from this pathological, abusive, and deeply corrupt Whitehouse. What a shit show. This entire administration should be sent to El Salvador.

These reporters need to sharpen their teeth. Push her, she’s a liar. Make her act out, the more she acts out, the worse they all look.

I don’t think Karoline Leavitt has the maturity or the mental ability to handle these press conferences. Like most of Trump’s appointments she is not qualified for the job.

Trump knows the optics are the shutdown are bad for him, which is why they’re so heavily blaming the Democrats despite Republicans controlling the Senate, House, and the White House. But I also think he *wanted* the shutdown the entire time, as an excuse to gut Democrat-favored programs.

By trying to blame Democrats, he wants his cake and to eat it too.

    14. This is actually a really smart strategy for Dems. Pick a single issue that is deeply unpopular across the spectrum and keep the messaging simple. The MAGA base is lost, but most rational people are not buying the lie that Dems want to provide health insurance to illegals. We need more of this from the Dem leadership.

      >Meanwhile, at a media briefing, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt twice lost her temper under tough questioning

So just like every other briefing she does. Since day one she responds to perfectly normal questions with personal insults and general disdain. Trump had some terrible press sec’s in his first term but Leavitt is the perfect combo of immaturity and smugness, which is probably why Trump loves her so much.

Keep contacting your reps. Remember, Republicans have total control of the government, why do they keep shifting the blame? Tighten the screws, make them take the blame.

    18. She is so out of her league it’s unbelievable. She is just a like a little girl , groomed by an adult man who as soon as he could legally, married her. She never matured into a woman.

    19. Republicans are victims of their own messaging success here. No low information voter thinks the Democrats, the party of government, want the government to shut down especially when all they know is Republicans are in charge. This is a fight they can’t win and bitching about it doesn’t change that.

In all, it just makes Schumer’s decision in March even more dumb.

„Nobody likes to put people out of work“ said Karlene Leavitt. Meanwhile she works for the guy whose literal catchphrase is „Your Fired“

      > Trump keeps calling all these federal agencies ‘Democrat agencies’ – let’s lean into that… the Democrat Veterans Affairs, Democrat Medicaid, the Democrat Yellowstone Park

    22. Press Sec seethes as it’s exposed that yet another of their decisions is unpopular as shit, and they’ll not change course in the slightest. Press Sec also takes comfort that Fox News will continue to paint the Dems as the bad actors, and the hardcore base will lap it up like the good little lambs they are.

    23. Wet-Skeletons on

Both campaigns the guy got cheers for saying presidents should be fired for shut downs… how is this a surprise to anything we still agree.

    24. FFS, there is no “winning” or “losing” a government shutdown. When the government shuts down, we lose a bunch of public services and economic activity, and everybody loses because of that.

The government shutdown because our system is broken, and Republicans wanted to cut subsidies that make healthcare affordable. The Democrats should stand their ground on making sure those cuts don’t happen, but we’re all losing because the people in power, mainly the Republicans, can’t agree on a budget that doesn’t screw over millions of people.

Like debates, if you’re treating a government shutdown as something you can “win” or “lose” then you’ve already lost. The root of a lot of our problems today as well as of a lot of the political polarization, particularly on the right, is this idea that politics is a team sport, and that it doesn’t matter whether a policy is a good idea or not so long as my “team” wins.

Too many people are willing to overlook the real-world impacts of their candidates and policies so long as their “team” wins.

It’s funny because the only reporters they give White House press passes to are far right sycophants. Even their loyal propagandists are not buying it.

“White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt twice lost her temper under tough questioning. Notably, what angered her was the spectacle of reporters punching holes in the leading White House arguments in the shutdown standoff. “

    26. Weird article, as the clips don’t pertain to the shutdown at all and are simply responses to other questions. She doesn’t even particularly „seethe“ in her responses, but they do demonstrate her low IQ as she flubbed her attempt to counter one of the questions by doubling a negative. I doubt her intelligence ever figured into her job interview with Trump, though.

      White House: Republican
      Congress: Republican
      Supreme Court: Republican

      Republicans: „IT’S ALL DEMOCRATS‘ FAULT!“

“Losing Badly” = “47% of U.S. adults blame Trump and Republicans in Congress, while 30% blame Democrats and 23% said they’re not sure.”

So less than half of those polled disagreeing with their narrative is losing “badly.”

I hate these headlines, they just give a false impression the country is waking up.
