      Aw that’s such a lovely bookshop. It’s such a difficult climate to run a bookshop in at the moment,  this will be a huge thing to recover from. 

      Some people are such skangers.

      That really is shocking. It’s a lovely bookshop, was on Dame Street for years, am I right?  Carries a wonderful selection of books, I discovered Niall Mac Coitir’s catalogue of Irish nature books there (Manchán Magan-adjacent, they’re just wonderful windows into our natural world and folklore). Wondering was it just random vandalism or did someone have an agenda. Either way, a crime against the city, our remaining bookshops are precious.

      Why would anyone do that? It’s a big part of the cultural history of Dublin. Was this some kind of weird targeted attack?

      I mean there are scumbags around but they don’t typically torch shops.

      I wonder if it’s connected to the attack on the jujitsu gym down the road a few months back.

      Edit: they’re saying it was rubbish set in fire in front of the shop rather than a targeted attack so looks like no connection.

      Ah no that’s terrible. I was just there for a book launch a couple of weeks ago, it’s such a great spot and Louisa (not Louise as this article has her) is a star, as was her dad before her.

      Hopefully the attention this attack gets might spur a few people on to go in to them and buy a book.

      This bookstore is a true valuable gem in our city. It’s a sense of community an authenticity in a stretch of the city that has been all but totally overtaken by chains and vape shops. They are openly anti-genocide, which seems to attract violent resistance these days, wouldn’t be shocked if it was a proud Irish patriot that set fire to this independent Irish-owned business.

      Jesus, one my favourite places in the city centre 🙁 I hope they will be able to reopen soon.

      „A small fire at the front of the bookshop was started last night after rubbish bags that were awaiting collection were set on fire. The guards don’t have reason at this time to believe it was a targeted attack. Thankfully the damage was limited and everyone is safe. We are open for business as usual. Thanks so much to everyone for checking in on us ❤️ So grateful for the kindness, THANK YOU ❤️❤️❤️“
