With immigration raids increasing in scope and violence against Chicagoans, Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker fought back against Homeland Secretary Kristi Noem’s claims that the city is a “war zone” ― saying that it is the Trump administration itself turning Chicago into a war zone by flooding the city with federal agents.
“They’re raiding neighborhoods where, instead of going after the bad guys, they’re just picking up people who are brown and Black and then checking their credentials,” the Democratic governor told CNN’s “State of the Union” on Sunday. “Are you a U.S. citizen? I don’t know about you, but I don’t carry around papers that say I’m a U.S. citizen. So you can imagine, people are getting detained, they’re getting arrested, U.S. citizens.”

If you’re serious about it, do something then. Call for a general strike. I know you’re a billionaire yourself but if you’re actually looking to change things, put an effort in?

I would rather him have the chicago pd follow around ice and the minute they break the law arrest the people responsible. If they fight back have CPD fight back.
I’ve been pro-Pritzker through all this but what is he actually doing other than publicly condemning it? You’re the governor, man. You have to have some power here. Do *something*.

The ICE agents are getting out of control these days
So the republicans who always railed against a national ID are forcing citizens to get passports and carry them on their person at all times so their papers can be checked…is that what freedom feels like?
Yes it’s a war zone when ICE agents instigates and agitates the peaceful protestors with tear gas, pepper spraying faces and unnecessarily brandishing their assault rifles.
Last I heard from people in Chicago, parts of it were already a war zone. One hospital stopped staffing guard posts in the parking lot because they were getting shot at. They installed those guard posts in hopes of stopping staff from getting robbed…. I know from auditors who started refusing to go due to safety issues.

I just watched Chicago police get tear gassed. It does look like a war zone. Why is Noem on a roof posing with sniper rifles? How is this legal?
I sympathize with Chicago it already happened in California and won’t leave. For some reason the doofus won’t send them to states like Texas who has killings with gun shots all the time oh wait we all know what that is.
A lot of talk going on, not much concrete measures to fight against a hostile takeover of the state you’re governing.

Granted, that’s just a piece of plastic that can be easily discarded, but that would seem the closest to „I’m an American Citizen“ papers.

Why doesn’t he sue like some of the other states?
The article says the governor said “we are going to fight back” but doesn’t elaborate on any plan. What’s the plan to fight this?? Why haven’t the governors of these states getting ICE’d done anything about protecting their US citizens? Why do we know where ICE is deployed and there is no protection for the IMMINENT danger to the citizens in the area??
Last I checked, throwing tear gas at cops is a fucking crime. Kidnapping citizens is a fucking crime. Where is the accountability.
So deploy state police to defend your citizens. They can work for their money for a change instead of chowing on donuts and beating on people.
