
Ich sehe, dass dies in Finnland viel passiert, wo Autos bei rotem Licht viel Distanz voneinander lassen. Warum? Ich habe gesehen, dass es passiert ist, auch wenn es kein Auto vor sich gibt. Die Entfernung ist viel mehr als die Entfernung „Sie sollten anhalten, bevor Sie die Räder des vorderen Autos nicht sehen“.

The distance between the black car and that grey car is pretty standard anywhere in the world with good drivers.
another thing you need to wonder about up here is lane merging, cause apparently its not taught in driving school
If traffic isn’t heavy, you can accelerate more smoothly, conserving energy. Peeling off takes the highest amount of energy.
Personal preference or mistakes can also happen. I try to never stop the car unless in tight city traffic and roll it in first until the traffic light turns green.
That is actually the optimal distance that is ultimately faster for the whole line because he can start moving earlier when the light turns… that is if everyone did that.
When I was in driving school we were taught to leave a cars length so that making space for emergency vehicles is easier.
That looks like the ACC traffic mode distance.
If some one crashes into you youa re less likely to be pushed into the car in front breaking the pile up chain.
If everyone kept such distance, the whole lane could start accelerating at the same time (instead of one car at a time) resulting in smoother flowing traffic.
Also, could be that the car in front had originally stopped closer to the car behind it but then started crawling slowly forward and the other car just didn’t bother.
This is a common practice, especially during winter. Space gives you a safety buffer when roads are icy and slippery. Some do this all year round. Granted, that’s some major space in the picture. But it’s better that than having someone so far up your ass that you can see drivers eye color.
It’s an extension of the concept of safety distance, and in this case it’s the safe distance from the vehicle in front of you in the event of a collision behind you. The way I see it, if you get rear-ended by someone, you don’t immedeately plough into the car in front of you. Same thing at the red lights when there’s no car in front of you, if you get rear-ended, you don’t get pushed into traffic to then get t-boned.
From Finnish perspective in other countries cars drive too close to each other
I stop normally behind a car, they very slowly creep forwards and I don’t.
If there’s an emergency vehicle that needs to get through, ypu can’t make room if you’re bumper to bumper.
Most people are missing the real reason: In case a car doesn’t break fast enough and crashes against the last car in the line, leaving a safe distance with the front car avoids a chain of crashes.
Safety distance/buffer we were though at driving school.
Realistically the explanations here make sense but then again it’s a Bolt driver so that trunks them.
We like our personal space and have plenty of room here.
in finland we have space. so why not use it?
I have no energy to move my car for a meter every time someone in the line nudges forward and it gives me more space to start moving when the line changes.
