SS: We have all been told about books being burned. Why do they never mention which books were being burned? Is that being obfuscated intentionally?
What parallels can we make with society in the US today?
There are no claims being made here and is purely speculative of historical events.
I’m going to ask that people responding try to avoid emotional sensationalism and try to stay on topic about the specific types of books that were burned.
I had an anarchist tell me they burned the queer-theory books just the other day, in person no less.
They burned anything they thought obscene or degenerate. But it was by their own definition.
I was at the gym this morning and a short middle aged fat woman had a shirt on that said, „Read Banned Books.“ She was throwing off a vibe of being a public school teacher who decorates her classroom in rainbow flags and communist propaganda.
So I went up to her and said, „Love your shirt! Mein Kampf is the greatest banned book of all time! But I’m sure you’ve already read it!“
She scowled at me, oblivious to her own hypocrisy. Her whole demeanor deflated right before me as she learned her shirt didn’t have the intended meaning she thought it should have.

They were burning books that were considered depraved for their time. Mostly remnants from the Weimar Republic. After WW1 people reveled in decadence and hedonism. They burned anything by Jewish writers or anything related to the Jews in a positive light. Scientific books by Einstein for example, Freud, anything like that. Communist or Pacifist authors were banned. One exception being the Bible. The entire Bible was written by Jews. They did promote a „revised “ version of the Bible but for the most part left it alone.
I think this has been asked at least 10 trillion times on Reddit alone.

Let’s see, the authors of the burned books included Ernest Hemingway. Jack London, H. G. Wells, Sigmund Freud, Franz Kafka, Stefan Zweig, Thomas Mann and Erich Maria Remarque.
They burned All Quiet on the Western Front. Stormed theaters to prevent viewing of the film version too. Can’t show war for what it really is when you are trying to convince your populace to fight one.

There’s seems to be a lot of people who thinks the world revolve around them. So if they never hear people talk about what books they burned, no one EVER talks about it. I don’t know why this person thinks they know enough to do a truth telling video on the subject, but that won’t stop them.

One of the books they banned was „The Jungle“, by Upton Sinclair, who exposed the wretched conditions of meat industry workers in America and became a bestseller across the world. The reason they banned it wasn’t because Upton was Jewish (he wasn’t), but because it was „too socialist“. That should give you an idea of their literary standards.
