      “The Journal readers”

Well that’s certainly a questionable bunch of characters

I think we should consider disenfranchising Journal readers in the South, just to make it fair.

Defo let’s open the vote up to Irish Americans. They seem to be a great bunch of lads who’s views align perfectly with the average irish person.

Voting should absolutely be extended to Irish citizens living in the North. They did not choose partition and they are as much a part of Ireland as someone from Dublin or Cork.

Giving them a real stake in the Irish state would also strengthen the north-south connection and influence public opinion towards a united Ireland.

I’m Irish, I live abroad, and I don’t deserve to vote in any form of Irish election. But…I do feel that perhaps the Northern Irish permanently resident population should be allowed to vote in the rather meaningless presidential election.

Maybe instead of an IQ test to vote, just ask when coming in if you are a “Journal reader” and if you are then blocked from voting
