    1. > „I remember after opening weekend, they were like, ‚Well, we tried,'“ the Ghostbusters actress recalled. „And we were like, ‚Sorry.'“

      > Wiig added, „We just thought, like, that was it. And then I think just more and more people kept seeing it and then it kind of happened later.“

    2. I wonder what the studio was expecting for the opening weekend, $26m seems about right. Less than Knocked Up but more than Funny People.

Why would you refer to her that way? It’s seems so out of context. Maybe a little mean, lol.

    4. I saw this movie in theaters with my college roommate right after slamming a bowl of mac at Noodles and Co. Never laughed so hard. This was a defining movie of that time in my life!

I think it’s one of the worst movies I ever saw. Nothing about it is funny.

it was super cringe to watch – every joke was at someone else’s expense, making fun of someone, at least that’s what I can remember.

I just felt second hand embarrassment the whole way through

It’s like one of five movies I bought on google play way back when. Still watch it on YouTube once a year probably. It’s up there with the stupid comedy greats for me.. like Something About Mary and Pineapple Express good. It’s gonna put you in a good mood, and that’s what any good comedy should do. There’s no politics or hate, just hilarious shenanigans.

    7. I sure hope she wasn’t aiming for critical cinema with it lol. Movies are fine to exist in a lane of funny and stupid, that’s what popcorn is all about. I love Bridesmaids.

it was not a flop in my household.

i do think it’s underrated, though. i’m sure it didn’t gain nearly as much traction for going to see it opening weekend because it was probably perceived as being a „chick flick“ and otherwise a movie „for women.“ but when i saw it in theaters, my showing had a good turn-out (mostly women), and you could tell everyone was having a blast. the dress shop scene killed us. i go back to this movie and it still holds up, too.

    9. Kristen played a mid-30s woman whose life had totally fallen apart to absolute perfection. She was a total mess but weirdly 100% authentic and believable. Everything now is so meta, performances like hers are increasingly rare.

One of my most treasured memories with my homies was going to watch this movie.

I lost it when Melissa Mcarthy brings home all those puppies. Pure gold.

    13. I don’t think I ever heard anyone who has seen that movie say they didn’t like it.
