      I was hoping Babiš and Okamura would manage to suck the few percent from motoristé as well as stačilo. But keeping at least one of them under 5% is a success.

      Sorry, but calling ANO right-wing party is an insult to all real right-wing parties all around Europe. The party is hard to define on the usual political map, but it’s something between far-right and far-left. It’s politics have aspects of both of these extremes and hardly anything in between. That’s why they were able to get votes of people who would be otherwise voted for left-wing parties in the coalition Stačilo!, but mostly Communists. The only real right-wing parties on Czech political spectrum are ODS and TOP09, both parts of Spolu coalition alongside more center positioned KDU-ČSL. So, please, OP, for the sake of not spreading fake news, change the description of ANO in the picture to far-right, which is what this party is nowadays, even though it has some far-left politics.

      I think that results are not bad: radical coalition formed around the Communist Party (Stačilo) has not reached the 5% threshold and thus didn’t make it to the parliament; the other anti-western radical coalition SPD has fewer votes than in last election.

      The clear winner is ANO, and although it is „populist“ and in opposition to the current government, it is still a pro-Western party (its leader Babiš is enterpraneur with businesses in Western Europe) and is eager to „deliver results“ especially in improving economy and lives of ordinary people.

      In the foreign politics the winning party belongs to Euro-realists; they also want to reduce the Czech aid given the Ukraine, he still wants to support Ukraine via EU and NATO and does not support Russia. He also wants to revive the V4 cooperation and rationalize military spending (e.g. focusing on drones and drone-protection rather than purchasing expensive heavy weapons like tanks and air-fighters (F35, etc.)).

      Overall, they want to focus more on the interests of the Czech Republic and its citizens rather than focusing on foreign politics, which can explain why Czech voters have given him so many votes compared to the current government that was often blamed to have focused on the foreign politics.

      I wish ANO would not get this many votes but this is not as bad as it seems, this victory is a poisoned apple as Babiš won’t be able to govern by himself, SPD will likely not agree to get into government as they will finally have to put their money where their mouth is and fail miserably (I would love to see it though), also Motoristy will most likely make a coalition with ANO and thus have a governmental coalition of 93 seats when you need 101 for a majority, so at the mercy of the rest of parliament.

      This is on top of the multiple scandals and trials that have plagued Babiš in the last years causing him to age physically and mentally. Plus, he has only one ideology: make money for himself, and this makes him predictable and blackmailable.

      So all in all I am not overly concerned with the results of this election. The big danger was having Stacilo, a batshit crazy „communist“ pro-Russia party get into parliament, but they did not reach the 5% mark thankfully.

      Why keep western media marking ANO as far right. They are not. They are populist center-left with a strong leader.

      The chart is not correct when labeling the parties. ANO maybe started as a right wing party, but right wing parties don’t have any support among czech voters. ANO is a center (?) but mainly a populist party that aims at older people by promising them bigger pensions.

      People didn’t understand anything in Europe… There are still alive people who have seen Prague Spring and at the same time people in Chech republic vote for pro-russian politicians. Incredible…

      Literally what do Czechs have to be populist about. The country and everyone in it is significantly richer than 20 years ago, there are barely no immigrants, it is clean, extremely safe, prosperous. Are you guys just bored?
