Am I the only one who thinks this is a bit ridiculous?

I don’t see how it’s „unfair“ to learners. If they’re driving they should know how to go over a speed bump and everyone would obviously make sure to practice these ones well if you’re definitely going to get them. It’s not like it would be a surprise to them.

Come on, like. Testers have to go through far riskier stuff than this on the routes.

Seems to me they were just looking for an excuse to close it down. It’s the test centre with the lowest pass rate in the country and it was originally set up as a temporary one during Covid.

Redeploying all applicants to Finglas, the third busiest testing centre in the state. That’s the type of joined up thinking you can expect from the RSA.

To be fair, as someone going through a course of lessons at the moment (been driving for 15 years, was most of that time abroad, was also using foreign licences which weren’t recognised here, long story, had to go through the lessons) I’ve a fair amount of speedbumps along my test route that I have to manage and in my car, which is a rattled out Vitara, it can seem like I’m trying to crest Galteemore with the amount of maneuvering it takes. It adds a lot of nerves and pressure to „perform“ and it’s by no means a graceful or elegant piece of driving. Plus the fucking things are never the same height.

Your driving test is a performance and candidates should be able to demonstrate they can drive safely and appropriately over a speedbump without stressing out about 15 of them and losing points to nerves and gritted teeth from the tester. In saying that, I know nothing about that centre, logic would tell me to just pick new test routes but that mightn’t be easy either.
