Thought he had more time.

Saw him on Dundrum main st last year.
Very unique voice, there was no one like him.

Really, really upset to hear this. Didn’t know he was sick until a few weeks ago. He had such a way with words, and people. Thank you for all the work you’ve done for our beautiful language and land, Manchán.
That’s a real pity. Very interesting chap from what I’ve heard of him on blind boys podcasts.

Manchan will no doubt be even bigger in his passing. He was the great communicator in terms of all things old Irish. How deeply sad this is to lose such a person. Utterly heartbreaking.

Did incredible work for the Irish language, created interesting and stimulating art, gave hope and thoughtful meaning in the face of death. RIP Manchán, you did well.
He was on the Brendan O Connor show just a few weeks ago and sounded upbeat but I didn’t think he was this ill. Loved the way he looked at life and the way he lived it, so different to the consumerist, social media rat race so many people are obsessed with these days.

I’m in the middle of reading one of his books thinking he had still a few months left to live. I can’t believe this news, what an absolute loss.
That is genuinely upsetting. I just watched him in a documentary last week. A passionate man, he was very at peace with his awful diagnosis
OMG. Shocking. Manchán was an absolute gent. He sent me a bunch of DVD’s years ago for free to upload to youtube. Genuinely lovely fella. Sad to hear of this.
One of the few public figures I am genuinely devasted about dying. A huge loss to the Irish language and culture but I’m sure his work has inspired many people and will continue to do so.
This is a particularly giant and unmeasured loss for Ireland. His message, passion and authenticity was so much more valuable than most of the self-indulgent pseudo Irish celebrity and influencer culture and there’s no one to fill his boots. He was one of the greats and the real deal

A huge loss for Irish culture
That’s very sad news. He was such an interesting guy who just seemed to have an incredible enthusiasm for life and everything around him. His recent documentary was an amazing piece of television. I’m going to have to pick up his books and get to know the rest of his work.
My deepest condolences to his family and friends.
Like a great many people, I always liked listening to Manchán. He left a real legacy.
The one interaction i had with him was lovely. Such a genuine decent human being. Cared deeply about his language as a connection to the land as a whole. Loved his insights into native people everywhere and how language brings them together. Feels like we lost an extremely good one here

So torn up over this. His recent radio appearance was a testament to what a strong, positive force he was in the world. At a time when Ireland needs more gentle, curious, generous and magical souls like this man, we lose him so young.
