Watching our history be rewritten in real time is infuriating!
This will be interesting to watch, considering there is no practical way of moving it without completely disassembling it. The planes that used to carry the shuttles don’t exist anymore.
Not to mention that the US government doesn’t even own the shuttle.
I see years of litigation before this actually happens.
Insanity. Just vindictive BS from a spineless weasel who allowed his wife and dad to be insulted by Trump and the moment he said anything about it, he was told that he and his family had to take the abuse.
Both would have been suitable locations but moving it now seems crazy.
Remember who is doing this, the same people trying to dismantle NASA and everything else in the Federal Gov.
If I was the Smithsonian, I would tell them to come get it but not lift a finger to help them move it until they have a solid plan in place to move it without damaging it.
It’s still owned solely by the Smithsonian so they don’t have the authority to do this
Stupid is as stupid does. God, I hope they can delay this long enough til he is out of office…
The Republican cult will destroy any all historical artifacts they can in pursuit of some imaginary political “victory.” Then they will ~~begin~~ continue destroying human beings.
Moving Endeavour to Houston makes no sense from any angle other than political.
What’s next? Moving the Spirit of St. Louis to St. Louis or the Wright Flyer to Ohio?
Even if you acknowledge that the legislation gives the federal government the right to seize Discovery from the Smithsonian (I don’t), this seems incredibly premature– is there even a plan to build a suitable museum building in Houston yet? They certainly haven’t broken ground on it.
Is there a plan to store and preserve the chopped-up Discovery in Houston until the permanent building is ready?
This whole thing is being rushed to head off court challenges or future legislation modifying the original hare-brained amendment.
Making America Great, folks. Best president ever. These are the real problems that need to be addressed. Forget the fact most people can’t afford rent anymore.
