      Submission Statement: Australia and Papua New Guinea have signed a mutual defense pact, marking Australia’s first new military alliance of this level in 70 years. the Australian government said „It [the treaty] puts our relationship with PNG on the same level as we have with the United States and New Zealand and builds on the already strong bonds between our defence forces, our economies and our people.“ the treaty is designed to set up interoperability between the Australian and PNG armed forces with a planned 100k PNG soldiers to serve in the ADF. The Chinese government opposed the treaty and issued a statement urging PNG „Not to compromise its Independence.“
