    1. Trump. “It would be a real shame if something happened to your business, capeesh?”

„“No one can sell out Taiwan or TSMC, and no one can undermine Taiwan’s silicon shield,“ KMT Chairman Eric Chu (朱立倫) said Wednesday.“

Isn’t Trump just looking for a reason to weasel out on Taiwan? China really is going to attack Taiwan soon, aren’t they? I wonder if they’re just waiting for Russia/Ukraine to wrap up? Might be waiting for a while.

“We protect you because your resources are so valuable to our economy. Give us the power to produce those resources ourselves or we will stop protecting you.”

      “Umm…..no?”

That „idea“ sounds a bit like extortion.

Friends of Taiwan in the US can claim that Trump is „soft on China“ if he does anything to weaken Taiwan.

    5. Whoever is in charge of proposing these deals clearly has no idea about foreign policy, diplomacy, or deals.

Even if the next president is the most sane, intelligent, caring, and reasonable person in the world, countries still won’t trust America becuase it can all change to the polar opposite in 4 years.

A very well known inconsistent US administration is asking them to renounce to one of their best “soft-defense“, no surprise Taiwan said no

This would easily trigger China to be sure. China has been itching to take over Taiwan for some time. This will become a source of contention soon.

Why would a global technology leader want to participate in an extortion style shakedown with a country led by an absolute idiot?

Would destroy them just like he’s destroyed every business and country he has been associated with.

    10. Make half of the chips in the USA so we don’t even have to defend you, who will agree to this?

    11. Not until china begins to invade and trump holds them ransom like he did with ukraine, despite already pledging to protect them.

If they tried to set up chip plants in the United States they’d just be arrested anyway.

I’m surprised no one has floated the idea of Taiwan becoming a territory of the United States for protection
