That’s insane. That’s like 8 full tables of people at a McDonalds. I’m not sure how America is going to be able to financially recover from this.

    2. 29 people, how is this news? there’s 300 million americans at the very least.

I don’t see how this warrants a post to be honest. But I guess if we can have articles about one family moving to Russia for “family values” we can have this.

Most dramatic people in the world my lord. I remember the dramatic people who said this dumb stuff in 2016-2020. Its not just Dems, moronic Republicans on the other end are fleeing to RUSSIA, of all places, because to them America under Trump is becoming too woke for them. While one of these people saying America becoming too anti-woke?

It sounds like some people just want a reason to leave the country.

Were they granted the request though? The US is not a war-torn country, no reason why the Aussies should approve them

The funny thing is the Portuguese Immigration office (AIMA) is literally swamped with new residence visa applicants and unable to keep up with the renewal process for the currently existing foreign residents, meaning applications are in the thousands, perhaps 10s of thousands, and this isn’t even news, except in Portugal.

And I’m certain Spain and other Schengen zone countries are under similar pressure.

Maybe it’s because they’re pleading for asylum rather than just applying for residency.

I have never really been around many Americans as an Australian but there is always American families with their little children at the park we visit now and it was so strange at first to hear the accent as it is usually UK or New Zealand accents they usually say they are here for work and plan to stay ☀️🏖️🐨

    8. „WHY is this news??“

Because while the numbers may be tiny, they’re indicative of a serious and escalating situation, which is that an authoritarian regime has seized control of the US.

      1. Its bananas and news that ANY US citizens should need to be in such fear of their government that they’re applying for asylum

      2. even though the numbers themselves are small, they represent a large percentage of growth.

„Fewer than five US citizens applied for asylum between February and April.

The number of applications rose to five in May, seven in June and 14 in July, resulting in a minimum of 29 and a maximum of 38 lodgments over six months.“

That’s just who applied for asylum specifically, not just emigrated, and in far-flung (from the US anyway) Australia. Canada and other western countries are starting to see this kind of increase as well — so far largely from the trans and spanish community is my understanding — and we can expect to see those numbers rise as more people either flee being targeted by the regime, or just recognize that its time to get out while they still can. Who knows when they’ll go full north Korea and prevent citizens from leaving?

I have a friend who moved from the US to Spain because he wanted to be in a place where he felt safe at all times and not just most times.
