In times where finding an appropriate apartment for a family is nearly impossible, why does a single person live in a 3 bedroom
    apartment?

Reading this whole story I am just confused. So she was chilling in Merl in a 100m2 3Bedroom
    appartment for 650 euro?

If the whole building indeed has to be completed renovated etc it makes sense that the lease is canceled as the building simply becomes inhabitable as they will have to cut power, water etc to conduct all the works. I don’t see anything illegal being done here or why the court should even side with her.

“I was told the renovated flats would be rented out for €5,000. That’s what the owner told my neighbour Jacqueline”

Here she is just trying to pull the strings of “look i am an old lady, they just renovate this building so
    they can ask outrageous rents”

    5000 euro is such a unrealistic number…

    Edit:

So her craftsmanship certificates were not recognized, she never even tried to obtain them here in Luxembourg which resulted in unstable income… Yet she is bitching and moaning that she wants to live in a 100m2 apartment in the capital for cents on the euro?

This lady is just out of her mind and I can’t find any sympathy for her, especially not if she really stood up 2 appointments to visit other apartments

Having read the article it’s hard to feel any kind of sympathy for her. She clearly feels entitled to a topnotch 100m2 appartment in only the best neighbourhoods for a rent lower than what interns pay for shared flats.

She is also already setting up the stage in case she loses the case by hinting at a potential collusion between the judge and the landlady.

Difficult to have much sympathy here. The lady has lived in great style for a peanuts rent. Even 20 years ago, you wouldn’t get anything for 650 euro in Merl. She doesn’t want to move to Bertrange for a place on a reduced rent and she doesn’t want to go to Belgium or France. I’m sorry but at some point you’ve got to live according to your income and she should be grateful she’s made it this far without paying a market rent like the rest of us.
